Getting ready...

Yesterday, Barry and I (okay, well mostly Barry) put together Jack's crib and the glider for his room! How exciting!!! Barry did a great job putting everything together!!! Both pieces of furniture were gifts from Grandma April...Thanks, Mom. :)

We are still waiting to hear news about the possible new house. Our Realtor said that we should hear an answer by Wednesday about our offer. Hopefully, we can start packing soon!

Christmas 2007

What a great Christmas we had this year! It may be the best Christmas to date... although we have high hopes for next year topping this one with the addition of baby Jack!!!

We put together a slide show of some of our Christmas pictures! You will see pictures of holiday baking at the Spurlock's, Christmas morning, and pictures of a surprise baby shower that my Dad, Courtney, and Abbey threw for us! It certainly was a huge surprise!!! We were so touched by the surprise baby shower...a HUGE thank you to everyone that made it so very special! We will hold these memories in our hearts forever!

More pictures will be coming soon of our Christmas on the Luzny side of the family... for some reason, I did not take any with my own camera this year...so I am waiting to receive a few good ones!

It's beginning to feel a lot like...

CHRISTMAS!!! Our holiday shopping is almost finished and the baking will start this week! We are so excited to share the holiday season with our friends and family! To add to the Christmas magic, we got our first big snow today! Barry was very happy to use his new snow-blower!!!

Deal or No Deal?

We have been looking for a new home to start our family in for a few months, and we think we may have found it!!! It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom colonial on Westover in Rocky River. Westover is a dead-end street with a huge park at the end. We put in an offer this weekend and hope to hear back by the middle of this week.

The back yard is decently sized, but it only has a 1 car garage. As you can see in the photo, there is a spacious deck on the back that should be great for summer time cookouts. The house is currently owned by a bank, so the last owners are no longer part of the bargaining... Cross your fingers that the bank is willing to make a deal!!!

First outfit

Today, we got Jack's first little onesie! Barry was so proud to buy Jack's first outfit! We are so excited for Jack to get here! I am feeling great (other than the sinus/ear infection that I currently have). Jack is moving so much lately and Barry can feel him moving too! What a wonderful time in our lives!

Spurlock Holiday Party 2007

Last weekend, we had so much fun celebrating the holiday season with our Cleveland Family of Friends! We were surrounded by our wonderful friends and delicious food! This year, many little ones joined our party as families begin to grow! What a wonderful time in our lives.

The chocolate boxes turned out to be very successful! Thank you to all of you that offered helpful advice and tips along the way as I made and filled the chocolate bags for dessert!

Decorating for Christmas

This is truly my favorite time of the year! Yesterday, Barry and I got out all of our Christmas decorations and transformed our house into a winter wonderland. The day was perfect as we unwrapped each ornament and enjoyed the memories that each one holds. We sipped egg nog and ate pfferneuse cookies, listened to Christmas music....and a little snow even fell outside throughout the day! Tears filled my eyes as I realized how wonderful this Christmas is with baby Jack growing...and how magical next Christmas will be with him helping to decorate our tree as we create new traditions with him!!!

Thanksgiving Feast at school

We had quite the Thanksgiving Feast at school today! All of our students helped to prepare one of the biggest spreads I've ever seen! With a 22 lb. turkey, a huge ham, and many delicious side dishes (including 20 lbs. of mashed potatoes), it really was a feast to remember!
We are excited to travel this weekend to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with family! More pictures are sure to come!
Today is also our 6 month mark for baby Jack! :)

School update

School has been so busy lately and we have done so many fun and exciting things that I wanted to share with you! Above is a picture of Ruthie and I on our fall field trip to an apple orchard! The students loved the hay-ride, learning about pumpkins, home-grown produce, and apple tasting!
For our Halloween party at school, our students had a chance to make wormy-popcorn balls (soooo messy, but so much fun!) and we also enjoyed bone-bread as a snack! All of the students dressed in their Halloween-best and we had a really fun party! I feel very lucky to be teaching at our new school!

Weekend of October 20th

What a fun weekend we had in Napoleon! Our dear friends, Kristen and Dan are officially Mr. and Mrs. Petro now and we are so happy that we were able to be a part of their special day! It was such a beautiful October day for a wedding!

On Sunday, we enjoyed the beautiful fall weather with our two oldest nephews, Caleb and Brayden. We took a nature walk on the tow-path by the river.

The Spurlock Family Begins...

After a really long day at work and school, Barry and I got to see our beautiful little baby BOY!!!! We had the ultra-sound, and asked the technician to put his picture inside of an envelope for us to view at home. When we got home, we waited a while before the suspense was just about killing us and we had to open the envelope! We are so happy to announce to the world that our first baby is a baby boy!

During the ultra-sound, our baby boy was jumping and dancing so much! I'm not sure that these two pictures give him justice because some of the images we saw on the screen were truly amazing! His beautiful four-chamber heart was pumping strongly (142 beats per minute) and all of his other organs looked healthy to the technician. We have an appointment on Thursday with our Midwife, and we will be sure to update all of you then! We feel so blessed to be experiencing this miracle together and so happy to share the good news with all of you!!!

Baby-Update: We are 18 weeks along now and I am feeling great! On Monday, we have our next ultra-sound, and I am so excited to see our baby! The great debate continues....should we be surprised about Baby Spurlock's sex or should we find out Monday??? To be continued...

Cactus Jack's Saloon

Tom and Mark

My Uncle Tom!
While in Colorado, we were lucky enough to see my Uncle Tom play at Cactus Jack's Saloon! He did a great job playing everything from The Beatles, Neil Young, and even some originals! One of his fellow musicians, Mark, accompanied him to sing "The Weight" (you know....'take a load off Annie...') and a few other really great songs! We had a wonderful time!

Today, we are going to drive for 6 hours to see our friends, Adam and Danielle! More pictures to come this weekend...

The City at Night

We had a wonderful visit with Uncle Tom, Joan, and Olivia last night for dinner in their beautiful new home! It was so nice to visit with them, and see how much sweet Olivia has grown! This picture is a night time view from their house! The picture certainly does not capture the incredible lightning storm that we saw last night, but I hope you can appreciate the beauty! The elevation of the McNeill house is almost 10,000 feet!

Family Visit

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family! Yesterday, we had a family day here in Cleveland! We crammed a lot of fun into one day with our 3 handsome nephews and our family!
We had a cook-out at lunch time, played corn-hole, went to the park, and had a lot of laughs!
